USA 1991 Florida Numismatic Society Certificate, 20 Dollars Bank Note & Stamp

This souvenir card features the intaglio imprint of a $20 (face), series 1875 United States Note. The note is similar to its 1869 predecessor, but differs slightly with the addition of the roman numeral twenty (XX),in red, one on each side of a geometrically lathed and embellished $20 at the center of the note. The distinctive portrait of Alexander Hamilton was engraved by Charles Burt, and the allegorical figure of "Liberty," designed by S.A Schoff, was engraved by ].W. Casilear.
The blind embossed figure of "Freedom" was created from a photograph of the
plaster model, used to cast the bronze statue which surmounts the Dome of the Capitol. The Statue of Freedom was designed by Thomas Crawford in 1866 and cast in Washington, D.C. by Clark Mills in 1858. Placement of the nineteen foot six inch statue was completed December 2, 1863.
The card combines two concepts of "Freedom" in different presentations. On the note itself, she is featured with her shielded arm raised and an unsheathed sword pointed to the ground. The embossed version presents a partial figure. However, when viewed in full, the figure is depicted in depicted in a more relaxed stance with one hand resting on the hilt of a sheathed sword and the other holding a wreath and shield.
